Bespoke Acoustic Enclosure for Ventilation Noise Reduction

To address noise complaints from neighbouring properties, we constructed a bespoke acoustic enclosure around an existing ventilation fan mounted on a pitched roof.

A timber frame was securely fixed into the existing roof beams to create a solid structure. This was then boarded with plywood to form a protective shelter, while allowing safe access via a hinged door for future maintenance. Ventilation was incorporated into the door using a mesh grille to maintain airflow and prevent birds or debris from entering.

The enclosure was fully finished with roof felt and detailed with Flashband to all edges and junctions, ensuring a durable, weather-tight seal. The completed structure significantly reduced noise transmission while protecting the fan unit from the elements and maintaining full functionality.
